Weber Shill, MBA

Weber Shill has a background in Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from the Whitemore School at the University of New Hampshire. He entered Medical Practice Administration in 1999 with a multi-specialty practice in Kennebunk, Maine. Weber joined University Orthopedics in 2010 and brings a wealth of knowledge in healthcare administration. He is an excellent resource on insurance issues and contracting.

Michelle DeRoche
Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for overseeing the operations of University Orthopedics. Michelle utilizes resources to execute and manage operations initiatives to further the growth of University Orthopedics. 

Michelle has over 20 years of healthcare related experience encompassing a wide range of areas including revenue cycle management, compliance, IT integration, quality improvement, operations, and data analysis. 

Kim Mittelsteadt
Chief Human Resources Officer

Kim’s primary responsibilities encompass a variety of Human Resources disciplines including, directing the Human Resources function of University Orthopedics. Kim partners with senior leadership to plan, design, develop, implement and evaluate all human resources-related activities and initiatives to support the company's strategic goals. This includes organizational development, change management, talent management, talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee engagement, compensation and employee relations.

Additionally, Kim is the HIPAA Compliance Officer for University Orthopedics. Kim received her Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO) certification in April of 2019. She is responsible for development, implementation and adherence to University Orthopedics policies and procedures covering the privacy of protected health information and patient rights under HIPAA. Kim is responsible for establishing and administering a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating and acting on complaints concerning University Orthopedics’ HIPAA privacy practices.

Kim graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Kim brings over 15 years of extensive background in Human Resources affairs, including experience in employee recruitment, retention, employee relations, staff development, conflict resolution, compensation, HR records management, HR policy development, legal compliance and HR talent management systems.

Beata Sochacka
Administrator, UOI East Bay Surgery Center

Beata oversees all operational functions, processes, and staff of the facility while demonstrating the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

Beata brings over 18 years of surgical service experience providing leadership to a team of clinical and business professionals focused on quality outcomes of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Mark Nealley
Chief Information Officer

Mark's primary responsibilities encompass a wide variety of strategic technology issues: governance and policy, resource allocation, information technology protocols, and the UOI Information Technology(IT) Department. UOI IT provides helpdesk support to all departments, delivery of IT infrastructure and services, information security systems and compliance, administrative systems, and client support services.

Mark brings over 20 years of IT experience in varied fields (Desktop & Server Technologies, Networking, Programming and Management) and industries (Medical Robotics, MLS Real Estate, Manufacturing and Healthcare). He attended the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, Charlton College of Business majoring in Business Information Systems.

David Paller
Chief Financial Officer

David’s primary responsibilities encompass the financial and business development aspects of University Orthopedics. 

David brings nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare to University Orthopedics from a background in biomedical engineering and finance.  With a passion to provide numbers to uncertainty, David has worked with a wide range of partners over the years ranging from leading academic researchers and budding entrepreneurs to large healthcare systems and physician groups.  David holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, a BS and MS in Engineering from the University of Vermont.
