Dr. Michel Arcand is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon whose clinical and academic career has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by joint disease, with a particular focus on arthritis of the shoulder and elbow. Board-certified in both orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine, Dr. Arcand brings advanced expertise in diagnosing and treating arthritis through both surgical and non-surgical approaches.
With specialized fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery, Dr. Arcand is passionate about helping patients manage arthritis-related pain, preserve joint function, and maintain active, fulfilling lives. He develops personalized treatment plans that reflect the latest evidence-based practices, with an emphasis on patient education, shared decision-making, and long-term wellness.
Dr. Arcand serves as an Assistant Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he contributes to the training of future orthopedic surgeons and advances clinical care through research and education. He is currently a Co-Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is also actively involved in the sports medicine community, supporting local athletic programs and serving as a team physician for the Brown Men’s Rugby Club and the Providence Bruins Hockey Club.
A compassionate physician and dedicated community member, Dr. Arcand resides in Northern Rhode Island with his wife, Dominique. They are the proud parents of four sons. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cycling, running, and exploring the outdoors.
