Eren O. Kuris, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine and scoliosis surgeon who specializes in complex spinal disorders, including spinal deformity, correction of prior failed spine surgery, spinal infections, and spinal tumors. He treats both adult and pediatric spinal conditions, including scoliosis.
Dr. Kuris employs the latest technologies in the treatment of spinal conditions, including spinal robotics and navigation, minimally invasive spine surgery, and motion preservation surgeries such as disc replacement. He takes a patient centered approach and individualizes each treatment plan to the needs of the patient and is a firm believer that surgery should be considered only when all other treatment options have been unsuccessful.
Dr. Kuris is an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he serves as the Director of Acute Spine Care. He also acts as the Director of the Spine Surgery Fellowship at Brown University and the Associate Program Director for the Orthopedic Residenc and has been awarded the department’s excellence in teaching award.
Dr. Kuris received his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University. After residency, he completed an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Brown University, followed by a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he received specialized training in complex spine and scoliosis surgery.
Dr. Kuris is actively involved in spine research, where he uses clinical data to influence the outcome of his patients. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed abstracts, publications, and book chapters. He is a member of multiple international organizations, such as the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), the North American Spine Society (NASS), the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He volunteers on several committees for these organizations, including the education and research grant committees for the Scoliosis Research Society and the early career advisory council for NASS.
In his free time, Dr. Kuris and his wife, Lauren, enjoy spending their time with their 2 dogs and enjoying all that New England has to offer.
