Dr. Alexander Robertson treats all disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. These conditions include herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, instability, deformity, tumor, trauma, and infection. His special interests include biologic enhancement of bone fusion, minimally invasive spinal procedures, and total disc replacement. All patients who present with back or neck pain are thoroughly evaluated, given a diagnosis, and a treatment plan is initiated. Whether the patient can best be served by non-operative management or spine surgery, the goal is the same: restoration of function and a return to an active and healthy life.
Dr. Robertson joined University Orthopedics, Inc. in 2004. He has admitting privileges at The Miriam Hospital. He sees patients at University Orthopedics’ Kettle Point office in East Providence and the East Greenwich Office. Jennifer Pinhacos is his invaluable physician assistant. She has worked with him since 2012.
Dr. Robertson was born in Albany, NY. His family later moved to West Hartford, CT, where he spent his childhood. He was introduced to the medical field early by his father who was an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon. Dr. Robertson attended high school at Loomis Chaffee, a preparatory school in Windsor, CT. He excelled in both academics and sports. He earned cum laude honors while serving as captain of the soccer team. In addition, Dr. Robertson was ranked nationally in squash and named All-New England in lacrosse. Following high school, he completed his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth where he again earned cum laude honors while playing varsity lacrosse and squash. Before entering medical school, he spent a year on the ski slopes in Telluride, CO. Dr. Robertson earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia before completing his residency and Trauma Fellowship at Brown University. He furthered his medical training at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia by completing a fellowship in spine.
On a personal level, Dr. Robertson has three beautiful and athletic daughters between the ages of 15 and 20. He also has a yellow lab named Clyde.
