Sarah Abood, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner nationally accredited by The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She works alongside Dr. Matthew Akelman and treats conditions from hand-to-shoulder. She interacts with patients in the office and assists in the operating room.
Sarah is a native Rhode Islander. She attended the University of Rhode Island, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and wasinducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Prior to joining University Orthopedics, Sarah brings over 7 years of nursing experience from her time working in comprehensive stroke care, cardiac surgery, and neonatal intensive care.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys baking, running, and traveling throughout New England. Sarah spends time with her loved ones, including her rescue animals.

University Orthopedics in Providence, Rhode Island, is a regional referral center for patients with back and neck pain, joint pain, sports medicine problems, shoulder pain, hand problems, hip and knee pain, and foot and ankle injury.
