Dr. Akelman devotes his practice to hand, wrist and elbow conditions. He has expertise in caring for common hand problems such as Dupuytren’s disease, hand fractures, sports injuries, arthritis and nerve problems of the hand, wrist and elbow.

Dr. Weiss is an internationally recognized hand surgeon. He specializes in hand and wrist reconstruction with a special interest in finger and wrist joint replacement surgery.

Alexandra Sarnowski is a Physician Assistant (PA) who specializes in conditions of the hand and wrist. She works in association with Dr. Edward Akelman, and Dr. Arnold-Peter Weiss.
She began at University Orthopedics in 2003 and worked as a surgical PA prior to joining the Hand Surgery Department in 2007. Alexandra has lived in New England for almost 25 years and received her Bachelor of Science at University of Rhode Island. She then completed her Masters of Medical Science at Yale University, Physician Associate Program. Alexandra is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She has also completed a Certificate of Added Qualification in Orthopedics through the NCCPA.
Alexandra is certified by the American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support Provider, and an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider. She is also a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants.
Alexandra sees patients at the Kettle Point Campus.
