Emma Henshaw, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant through the NCCPA and has been a member of the University Orthopedics team since April 2025. She works closely with Dr. Michael Belanger in the Divisions of Sports Medicine and Joint Reconstruction, and Dr. Joseph Izzi in the Division of Hand and Upper Extremity. Emma conducts initial patient evaluations, interprets diagnostic imaging, performs in-office procedures such as injections, and provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative care. She sees patients independently in the clinic and also assists both surgeons in the operating room.
Emma earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bryant University, where she completed multiple elective rotations in orthopedics throughout Rhode Island—solidifying both her passion for the field and her connection to the local community. She completed her undergraduate studies at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York, earning a Bachelor of Science degree while competing as a varsity diver.
With a strong interest in the intersection of health, fitness, and athletic performance, Emma is committed to helping her patients return to the activities they love with confidence and strength.
Outside of her clinical work, Emma is actively involved in coaching gymnastics from preschool to high school levels. She spends her free time enjoying the outdoors, exercising, swimming in the ocean, and playing beach volleyball and pickleball. As a lifelong New Englander, she’s a huge Boston sports fan.
